Paranthrenella formosicola是透翅蛾科(Sesiidae) Paranthreninae，目前僅知分布於台灣。本種的前翅為黑色底，中室、CuA2下方、與中央各有透明區域；後翅除了翅脈為黑色外，其餘部分透明無色。Paranthrenella在台灣目前僅紀錄一種，P. formosicola最早由Strand發表，Arita和Gorbunov(1998)將之換屬。本種與Synanthedon auritincta外觀相似，但可由腹部的黃色斑區分：本種僅於腹部前三節交界有不明顯黃斑，後者則在中央有大塊黃斑。
A Brief Introduction
Paranthrenella formosicola represents the only member of Paranthrenella in Taiwan and could be distiguished from Synanthedon auritincta by the yellow markings on abdoman.
